Notification of the cancellation of Cantus coming to Japan
Thank you for your continuous support for the Karuizawa International Chorus Festival.
We have been planning to invite the Norwegian choir ‘Cantus’ as the guest choir of the KICF2016, but facing a heavy health problem in the close family of conductor Tove Ramlo, the cancellation of all activities associating a long journey has been announced, and it is now a situation that they need to cancel coming to Japan.
We would like to sincerely apologize to all of you who have been waiting for their coming.
Currently, we are rapidly searching for another guest choir and we hope to announce to you soon.
Please excuse us for any inconvenience raised by this and we seek your kind understanding upon this situation.
Following their cancellation, we have received a message to the Japanese Fans from the conductor of Cantus, Mrs. Tove Ramlo-Ystad, as follows:
I am deeply sorry that Cantus cannot come to Japan this year. Japan has been a highly desired destination for both Cantus and me personally for many years. The amazing opportunity of the invitation both to Karuizawa International Chorus Festival 2016 and to do a tour before with concerts several places was therefore a joy to receive, and has been greatly anticipated. My good friend Ko Matsushita is doing wonderful work for choral music in Japan, and it would have been a great honor to be a part of this event. Unfortunately the current situation with serious illness in my close family leaves me with no choice but to cancel the amazing opportunity, and for this I am truly sorry. I still hope and believe that the festival will be a successful one! My hope is that Cantus and I will have the opportunity to visit Japan in the future.
